Grandissima musica in certi interpreti ma non se lo fila più nessuno
Nominami un musicista jazz contemporaneo che abbia lo stesso impatto popolare di che so un mingus un Davis un chet Baker
Ne esistono ancora di ottimi jazzisti certo ma è diventata una cosa di nicchia
Negli 80 e 90 Roma era piena di locali jazz sempre pieni di gente
Ora o io sono poco informato o invece più un cazzo
Sono stato ad una piccola fiera del vinile e naturalmente, vista la merce, il 90% cercava jazz.
Ora certo è naturale ma c'era anche qualche ragazzo come mio figlio. Il punto è che quando parlavano tra loro, si scopriva che suonavano tutti.

Did jazz die in the eighties? Maybe It died years earlier with Ornette Coleman, Gil Evans, Charlie Parker, or even, simply, the minute it left New Orleans. All this is surely debatable. But the only fact that matters is this: the explosion of black American music at the beginning of the century has turned the history of the music upside down. The immense musical river that set off from New Orleans has spawned numerous tributaries and today is arrived at its delta. Some of its large streams have got lost. In this decompartmentalized , cosmopolitan and multicoloured space, the standard bearers of jazz have disapperead.They have left room for a permissiveness and a wild variety of individual styles, all carried by the impulse that was called swing in the thirties, which in diversifiying, has lost none of its power.
